Google Docs Extension - Draftback
Draftback is a Google Docs extension that lets you play the revision history of any Google Doc you edit. It looks like a time machine, letting you go back and forth in time as you edit the same doc and listen to the changes as they happen.
As it turns out, you can play back your entire Google Docs history without ever having to publish it to the web. If you edit a doc, and then delete it, that doc is still playable, at least in your browser. But if you publish it to the web, it's gone forever.
Here's how it works:
Every Google Doc you edit gets an ID, which you can use to play back the history of that Doc. This is done by saving the document in the current state, then editing it in the future. When you play back that document, you'll see that it has changed, but you won't see what it was before. So you can edit it again, and this time, it'll be the same, until you publish it. Then it's gone.
It's up to you.
If you want to publish your document, you'll have to use the Draftback extension, so you'll need to make sure you're using it.
You can also make multiple plays in a row, so you can skip ahead in the doc's history.
